Guidelines For Guest Bloggers
I started Grasptheroots to create a space for me to process my thoughts and experiences. I’d love to share my space with others. I invite you to join me in my journey of being radical and grasping at the roots.
Please read the following guidelines before submission, and if you have any questions, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Acceptable Topics: This part is simple. Anything is acceptable because what is important to you, is important to me and should be important to others. However, I will not post pieces that are oppressive or offensive. If you have a question or want to brainstorm a topic, please contact me at email@example.com.
Word Count: Allow your piece to be as long or as short as you like. What ever makes you happy.
Style: Use a tone that is natural to you.
Originality: Give credit where credit is due. I welcome both original material and cross-postings from other blogs. If you are cross-posting, please be sure that you have the right to do so, and that you include a link at the bottom that says, “This piece was originally published on Name of Original Blog on mm/dd/yy.”
Format and editing: If you have a preferred format, please email your piece, in a Word document, how you desire it to be published. All submissions are subject to format changes and editing, before publication. While it’s unlikely that I will make changes to your work, if I do, I will share my proposed changes with you before publishing your piece.
Author bio: Please include a brief bio and photo to be displayed on the “Squad” page of the Grasptheroots homepage. I encourage you to promote yourself by sharing your contact information, social media accounts, website, blog, etc.
Submission procedures: Please submit your piece via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not have a preferred format, you may type or copy and past your text into the body of the email. If you have a preferred format, please send your piece in a Word document.
Republication: Submissions are welcome to be republished on your own blog, or on any partner blog. If Grasptheroots was the first place the piece was published, please include the hyperlinked tag that says, “This piece was originally published on Grasptheroots on mm/dd/yy.”
Payment: At this time, I am unable to pay for contributed work. However, I will pay you in love [get your mind out of the gutter, if it was there in the first place] and have friendly competitions with chances to win prizes throughout the year.
Disclaimer: Grasptheroots reserves the right to decline to publish a submitted piece for any reason, including pieces that are oppressive or offensive.
